That along with my own personal things going on here got me to thinking.

The majority of people tend to make Resolutions every year though at least half expect to break them. Even those that resolve to lose weight & get healthy & start out determined tend to fail. Why do people break or fail their resolutions? I think it's a lack of motivation. Sure they may start out motivated & determined but then things happen & slowly the motivation fades.

I never made a New Year's Resolution to lose weight but there were times in the past when I told myself I was going to lose weight. I'd start trying to watch what I ate & go out of my way to start exercising hoping for some change. I fully admit that I lost my motivation after a week or two. The reason being is that the scale never went down. I never started feeling better.

The funny thing is that every time that I have actually tried to lose weight I never have. I have lost weight several times when I haven't really been trying. I've had weight issues (or at least thought I did because of things other people have said to me) since I was in junior high.

The 1st time I indirectly lost weight was when I spent a week on Catalina island when I was 14. I spent most of that week eating nothing but peanut butter toast, Taco Bell & ice cream BUT since I had to walk to get anywhere I got more exercise than I had before. I started every morning with a walk a few blocks down to the water to go snorkeling & then back up to the house. The rest of the day varied but I usually went to & from the house another 3 or 4 times. Needless to say my Mom was shocked when I came home at the end of the week with a TAN & weighing 15lbs less.

About a year before I got pregnant with my 1st son I started going through a lot of stuff. I was dealing with anxiety, depression, stress & just a lot of crap. My therapist got me to start taking walks when I was just feeling overwhelmed. I'd plug in my headphones & just go walk, listen to the music & it helped amazingly well. I'm not sure when I actually started losing weight but after a while I realized that I'd lost 20lbs & then after 3yrs of trying I suddenly got pregnant.

I lost weight after he was born as well, though the biggest portion of it was the weight that I had gained during the pregnancy. I had gained 30lbs with him which put me at the highest I'd ever been. I was so scared that I wouldn't lose it, but amazingly within the 1st month of him being born I lost the 30lbs without doing anything. I lost another 15lbs before I broke my foot off & ended up in a wheelchair for 6 months & gained most of that back.

Then came the Gluten Free discovery & I lost 20lbs, got pregnant again & lost 15 more pounds before I finally started gaining. I started both pregnancies at 220lbs and ended the 1st at 250 & the 2nd at 225. Once again I amazingly lost 30lbs within the 1st month of him being born & then an additional 15lbs.

As I started losing the 2nd time & got closer & closer to 200 I got so excited! I'm not exactly sure how much I weighed in 2005 when Jon & I got married but it was somewhere from 190-200lbs. I hadn't weighed less than 200lbs in years & I got all the way down to 180lbs without really trying. I was loving it. Since I wasn't actively dieting or exercising I wasn't sure if it would just keep going down but I figured it'd at least maintain.

Turns out the main contributing factor to my weight loss after the kids were born has been because I pumped/nursed for 6 months at least. I think when I stopped nursing is when the loss stopped. Then over time gradually it started coming back. I kept creeping closer & closer to 200lbs again. The fact that I did NOT want to hit 200 again & seeing how much weight a friend of mine had been losing since January taking ACE made me finally decide to take a chance.

I started taking ACE in April 2013 at 195lbs. At first I thought it would just help me lose weight by not needing to eat much & not changing anything else. Once I realized that I actually HAD to eat & more frequently & drink a TON of water I did my best working on getting it done. I had a countless amount of energy & I started feeling better & better. I was very happy that I stopped gaining weight but I was kind of disappointed that I wasn't actually losing any weight.

That was the 1st time in my life that I didn't actually lose my motivation. In fact it only made me more determined & motivated. I kept seeing pictures & other people posting about how much they had lost & I wasn't actually doing much more than just trying to eat a bit healthier, up my snacks, protein & water intake. I started with dancing while I cleaned the house & did various chores. I was cleaning all the floors in the house every week, sometimes twice a week if something severely messy happened. Next I added an additional 30min or more of dancing almost every day thanks to my Just Dance for Wii.

The scale still wasn't budging but I was feeling AMAZING! I was still a little frustrated but I was really loving being so active. After so many years of being 25-30lbs heavier & one medical issue after another I was thinner & actually FEELING healthy.

Then the most unexpected & surprising thing happened....I got pregnant AGAIN! No active trying, no fertility drugs, just ACE lol. Turns out ACE babies are fairly common. As you start to lose weight you feel sexier, more attractive, you feel better & are more active & well....things happen....A LOT! LOL

Here comes my current motivation. Since I could no longer take ACE I got to thinking about it & remembered that Jon gains weight every time that I'm pregnant. I convinced him to start taking ACE. I am determined to keep him from gaining weight this pregnancy. So far it's actually been going pretty well too even with all the bad food I've been craving for the past 10 wks.

I spent the first 16wks of this pregnancy hating the thought of most food & feeling sick most of the time so I lost weight again but only 5lbs this time. I finally started gaining weight about a month or two ago. I got mad Christmas Eve morning because the scale said I weighed 200lbs exactly. The next day & since then it's been back to 198, it just had a lying day apparently :p

I am still very upset & not wanting to see 200 on the scale but I have a goal for myself of not going past 210 before she's born. My hope is that things will go the same after she's born as it has with both of the boys & I'll lose my 30lbs within about a month & another 15lbs over the next several months as I'm nursing. That will put me down to 165lbs!! Then whenever she & I decide to stop nursing I'll start up on the New ACE. Since it's a different formula from what I was taking before I got pregnant I'm hoping that I might actually lose on this one & not just maintain but even if I don't lose any weight even if I just maintain I'll be happy with that.

Honestly I don't see myself maintaining though because I can't wait until after she's born & I'm recovered & able to be on my feet & more mobile again. I am wishing right now that I could go on walks with Jon but my heart & the rest of my body is keeping that from happening. I am excited to get him losing even more weight & inches than he has already! It's actually funny but right now it seems I am more motivated to see & help HIM lose weight than I am myself but then again it's not like there's much I can do about my own weight while I'm pregnant and there's just no fighting the cravings lol.

It seems for everyone you just have to find that thing that keeps you motivated & keeps you going. Don't give up because you can change things. It may be VERY slow going, like my 20lbs from walking for almost a year but it did happen. I may not have seen any weight loss during my 4 months on ACE but so many other aspects in my life definitely improved, I think my health improved, I felt like I was finally becoming the mother & wife that I always wanted to be AND Jon actually lost 10lbs because not only was I finally cooking more but I was cooking more healthy meals. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10868941182011458267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690311847327868295.post-24520191890457894232013-11-20T16:00:00.000-08:002013-11-20T16:00:02.791-08:00Girls...I know they say that girls are more difficult than boys. I just didn't realize that the difficulties started before they were even born. There are so many decisions to make that seem like they are so much harder than they were with the boys!

Of course I had made things super easy with Keegan by already having his name picked out in elementary school lol. Then there was the fact I love frogs & had been collecting frog things already in advance for whenever we FINALLY got pregnant & my happening to see the frog bedding set at Babies R Us & just knowing it was the one!

With Kaden, I'm honestly not sure why I chose monkeys. Perhaps because the day we found out he was in fact a he maybe that was the only animal at the place I liked to put the recording of his heart beat in. Apparently monkeys were popular that year too because Babies R Us had several bedding sets with monkeys & I found the perfect one. His name also just fell into place almost immediately. We didn't decide 100% on it right away but it was the 1st name I think that came out of my mouth, even though I was only joking at the time. It went onto the name list & kept hovering at the top.

This time around things just seem so hard to decide on. We kind of figured we'd go with another K name but now we're not sure. Heck one of these blog posts from last year talk about the name "Kiara" and how Keegan kept going on about wanting to name his sister that (though his 1st name suggestions this time were "Puss-in-Boots" and "Baby Minion"). I am working on a list of names that start with a K that I do like but I'm just not sure if I'm "in love" with any of them yet. Even names that I used to think were good candidates.

We've talked about skipping the K thing completely but neither of us really have any ideas for other names. As with the boys I prefer to try to skip the more common names is possible & since names hold so much meaning for me I'd prefer to pick one that actually has a good meaning.

Then again we've talked about not even deciding on a name until she's born. That perhaps we won't actually give her a name until we get to see her. This idea is something I have never considered before & I almost can't believe that I'm even thinking about it. It's also blowing the minds of our family members it seems lol. We've been asked recently if we've decided on her name yet or what her name is going to be & they seem a bit shocked by the answer that we don't know & when/if we do decide we might not tell anyone because it might not be final til she's actually born lol.

Bedding is another issue! If you know me then you know that I am not a Pink person. I am all about the PURPLE! A friend posting that she was selling a bedding set led me to looking at bedding sets available from Babies R Us & I was very disappointed. I remember seeing a gorgeous purple set there when I was pregnant with one of the boys. So I did some poking around on Amazon & I found it!

Isn't it gorgeous? This has kind of been falling in place since then. I looked at some other purple sets on Amazon but this is definitely my favorite. It also just so happens that a friend of mine that also makes jewelry recently made a "purse jewelry" piece that happens to match in color & have a butterfly on it! I don't carry a purse but I figured it'd work on a diaper bag. I had to finally make a decision this weekend & we actually traded jewelry items haha.

The thing that got me thinking about all this is actually the fact that Jon went straight to Costco last night after work & I think one of the first things he must have seen was a bunch of 3 piece sets for babies. He sent me a picture of a set that was in purples & pinks. It was a plush rabbit with a rabbit security blanket (aka Wooby) & fleece blanket. It got me thinking "Oh my gosh! I have to pick an animal for her!" Since he was there I did some quick searching on Amazon, Etsy, Babies R Us & Land of Nod. Thanks to Amazon once again I think I've got it!

Babies R Us also appears to have this one as well so I can check it out in person too which is helpful.

So I "think" the bedding/animal theme has been solved. The problem now will be figuring out her name. Plus of course hoping she doesn't get too much disgusting pink clothing etc lol. I'll have to do my best to make sure everyone knows how much I dislike pink lol. I've already said the only way pink is acceptable is if it's an accent color. Preferably purple & pink or black & pink and I really prefer hot pink with the black instead of a pale pink. Mom did by her first girl item this weekend though & it's lavender & light pink. That's ok though cause I really like it!

Sooo now to working on the name list.... Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10868941182011458267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690311847327868295.post-78128673568542909172013-11-19T16:18:00.000-08:002013-11-19T16:18:36.999-08:00Catch Up!I've been in a mood to write lately just haven't made the time yet. Part of the problem has been the fact that it's now been a little over a year since I wrote anything! So there's lots of catching up to do...ugh.

So lets see if I can somehow manage to summarize quickly.

The jewelry business has been booming for most of the year. It seems that I just kept getting busier & busier so the decision to focus more on big/gun shows this year was a good call. We redesigned my entire display between shows from April to May & I'm really loving the way it all looks now.

This was our 1st show with the new design. I've condensed a little down to two boards because I've added more things.

Things have been going good. The boys have been getting bigger. About mid July Keegan stopped going to preschool which was good & bad. He drives me crazy half the time but Kaden was really starting to miss him & now they have lots of fun playing (and fighting) together.

In April I started something that has definitely changed my life for the better haha. I started taking a pill called A.C.E. which stands for Appetite Control & Energy. An online business friend of mine started taking it around December or January & had lost a ton of weight. Since losing my 45lbs after Kaden was born I had been gradually gaining back & had gained back 15lbs so I had to at least stop that!

Oh my goodness it was so amazing! I had so much energy & felt better than I had in years!! I was functioning perfectly well on about 5hrs of sleep because I was up late almost every night working on orders, plus there were no more naps for me because I was working as much as possible while the kids were napping. I was cleaning house every week doing the whole thing, floors & all AND I was dancing while doing it!! Half the rest of the time I was dancing to the Wii at some point during the day as well!

Things were going so great & I had so many friends asking me about it that I decided to sign up to sell it in July. Well...it just so happens that a month later I found out that I also got pregnant in July! LOL I may not have really noticed the scale move but apparently I was doing something right. If you've read past posts you know that I have fertility issues. It took 3yrs to get pregnant with Keegan & I had lost 20lbs right before it finally happened. I went on fertility drugs & went GF at the same time in 2010, lost 20lbs & got pregnant with Kaden. This time no fertility drugs needed lol!

I was actually pretty upset for the first few weeks because we were not planning on this at all. We were leaning more & more towards not trying for a 3rd. What with my heart history & there being no guarantee that I wouldn't have problems the 3rd time around we were thinking it might not be the best idea. With my jewelry business as busy as it was & already two kids to deal with if I ended up with heart problems like last time there's no way that I could handle it. Plus I had been feeling so great on ACE & doing so much & right about the time I found out I was pregnant I started "feeling" pregnant. I not only had to stop taking ACE so lost that extra energy but the 1st trimester exhaustion hit me. I wasn't too thrilled.

BUT as I always say & my past has shown, EVERYTHING HAPPENS FOR A REASON! I am 20 weeks today & exactly 4 weeks ago we were told that we're finally having a girl! With Keegan & Kaden their gender was just about the first thing that they could see at 16 weeks but not this one. I flipped from side to side about 10 times before the lady finally got a look & said it looks like a girl. She checked a few more locations & said she was sure it's a girl.

Since it was so hard to find out though & I just knew for sure I'd end up with another boy I wasn't jumping into the idea of a girl just yet. I decided to wait until my next ultrasound at my doctor's office before I got too excited. Even though everything this pregnancy had been different. From morning sickness, to no appetite, not being able to eat most of the things I usually did or did when I was pregnant with the boys to finally becoming the pregnant pickle lady lol. Last Wednesday was the ultrasound though & we got the confirmation that it's a girl!!

This brings up a whole other set of problems though but we'll save that for another post because I'm sure this is too long as it is!

I even stopped doing Wordless Wednesday posts a few weeks ago. When I check my stats I usually have quite a few views on each new post & even a few on older posts but generally nobody comments on any of the posts. When nobody comments on anything it's hard to tell if anyone seems to really care at all.

I generally started writing on the blog mostly for myself, to get some of the jumbled thoughts out of my head. The fact that it seemed like some people were actually reading it was a bonus.

Now I really just don't have the time to try & force posts unless it's something I really need to get out & off my mind. I've been getting lots of orders for jewelry & stuff plus the fact that I've been doing all these vendor events. This coming Saturday is my last event for the month but then I have 2 the first 2 weeks of December. All 3 of these events are rather large so I want/need to make sure I have plenty of stock for both. I have nearly been selling out on some of the different items I have so I'm trying to get busy.

If you are reading this & haven't seen any of my stuff before & are curious you can see most of the stuff I do on our business facebook page Jon's Guns

I opened an Etsy shop a while back & listed a few items to see what might happen there & if anyone wanted to buy anything until we got our web store up & running. Our web store is mostly functional, we're just waiting to get our postal scale so we can do accurate shipping costs. Until then if you want to check out the Etsy shop you'll find it here

I'm not sure when I'll make another post but December 8th is my last show for the year & so far I'm not really wanting to book myself for anything next year yet. I'd like to only do 1 show a month maybe or stick to mostly gun shows next year. But we'll just have to see what happens. Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10868941182011458267noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690311847327868295.post-39812203149551264372012-10-19T11:28:00.000-07:002012-10-19T11:28:21.635-07:00Foam PlaymatFor Christmas last year I really wanted to make sure that Keegan got a little foam playmat. We have these awesome little chairs. They're like high chairs but just a little chair. You can set them on the floor or strap them to a big chair for the table.

He grew up over at Granny's house sitting in his little chair watching TV & eating his food. We have a really hard time getting him to eat most of the time & unfortunately he tends to eat better when he's actually watching TV. On the weekends we generally have breakfast at the table & we almost always have dinner at the table but during the week breakfast & lunch are often in the little chair.

Granny bought him a mat for Christmas from the store but there was a serious problem with it. It had the alphabet in it, which seemed great, but the letters all came out. It didn't take too long at all before half the letters were missing at various times or the edges just poked up so we were constantly stumbling over it. Not good, especially with my falling history.

I did some looking around online & managed to find this thing on Amazon.

It's AWESOME! Exactly what I needed & it's the perfect size to cover the area around his chair for little mishaps.

His chair is a little askew in this pic but usually it goes right in the center & close to the couch.

Now the new problem started once Kaden started eating finger foods. Our kitten LOVES people food & if he doesn't throw food on the floor for her, she comes over & eats off his tray. I'm always chasing her away & even though she does usually eat the food off the floor she's not quite as efficient as a dog. There's still usually a mess around.

If I didn't get the vacuum out right away days like this when he was eating Cheerios I'd find squished pieces of Cheerios all over the floor because the cat would play with them as well as eat them so they'd get dragged all over.

I've been meaning to buy him a mat for a while & about a month ago I got some more Amazon gift cards from Superpoints & Swagbucks (check out this link if you're interested on how I got the gift cards) so I finally got him his mat. BEST THING EVER!!

When he throws his food on the floor it's no big mess on the carpet. I can pick up the pieces easily & then if the mat is gooey or sticky etc some quick sprays with Clorox Cleanup & some paper towels & it's all clean.

So if you have little ones that have these little chairs or something similar where they eat or have snacks then you should totally consider getting this mat. It will make your life so much easier.

If you don't have the chairs but are interested in them here's a link to it on Amazon. We got ours at Target before both the kids were born. I think they're both space savers but for some reason Keegan's is a bit bigger than Kaden's. We couldn't find the bigger one in the stores this time, just the smaller one.
They actually called & busted me because I was supposed to go in for my check up in January. It's almost been 10yrs since my last cavity now. I've only had 3 total which is pretty awesome!

It was a pretty interesting trip all around. I'm not sure if it's all dentists offices or just mine but I LOVE how they always want to talk while you're having x-rays & they're cleaning your teeth etc. I had a new hygienist this time & she was really nice. We were talking about the kids & she has an 11 month old at home too.

She could not believe or figure out how it is that I do all the stuff that I do plus have 2 kids. I made sure & pointed out that Keegan's gone most of the day for 3 days a week but she still couldn't believe how I did it. She couldn't imagine trying to do all this with just her 1. I have days now & then where I feel like I'm super woman & then other days when it just feels like the whole day was a waste.

Trust me it's not easy. I pretty much never take time off, I'm always doing something. There are so many times a week when I hear Jon tell me to just stop, don't do anything & just relax but I just can't. I often feel stressed most of the time, my body hurts like crazy & I am always tired but it's worth it. I'm trying to be the best wife, mother, and business partner that I can be. Most weeks I manage a good cleaning of the house getting all the floors nice & clean so the kids can dirty them up almost instantly. I do dishes, laundry & clean up the kitchen daily. I take care of the kids, run errands, & do some of the shopping. I make half the business orders, handle most of the business stuff online, schedule events, make all the handmade stuff I sell & now I opened the Etsy shop so I'll have shipping orders etc to deal with too.

Somehow in all that mess I still try to make a weekly post here if possible. My creative brain just keeps turning. I have so many ideas of things to make & do & just never enough time. I had considered taking the whole month of October off from events but then got talked into accepting 2 at the beginning of the month. I'm really glad now that I didn't accept anymore that we got invited to be at because Kaden has been teething for quite a while & the last two weeks have been really bad. He almost never takes his afternoon nap, he didn't even sleep this morning for more than 45 minutes, and then thinks he needs to be in my lap the whole time instead of playing so my work time has been drastically cut. Plus he wakes up crying at least 3 times every night, sometimes 6 or 7 so what sleep I do get is terribly interrupted. I think it's worse than when he was a newborn & waking up to eat haha.

I guess it really is amazing when you think about it that way.

Anyway the other cool thing about the dentist trip was that I didn't think about giving her one of my cards until she was already gone so I asked the receptionist to give it to her. Her response was, "Ooo ooo what is this? I don't know what it is but it looks cool. Tell me what it is." I started to laugh and as I started answering she noticed my earrings. I think we ended up talking about guns & stuff for 5-10min til she got a phone call. So hopefully I'll be seeing her again haha.

Kaden appears to be finally napping again so it's time to get back to work. I hope everyone has a good day & week. I probably won't be back on here until next week sometime. We have an event Saturday so wish me luck!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10868941182011458267noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690311847327868295.post-89314037543798928172012-09-26T10:00:00.000-07:002012-09-26T10:00:07.382-07:00WW: Cuteness for Your Wednesday!

In between taking & editing the photos, I worked on setting up all the rest of the stuff on the etsy shop. I finally finished editing all the photos I had taken yesterday. I wish I could say that it was ALL the photos but I had to take even more today.

Since not only are you charged a credit card service fee, etsy commission fee & a listing fee I decided to only list 8 items for now & had to raise my prices by $2 to cover the costs of most of the fees.

I really had no idea that many people had the idea to make jewelry out of shell casings until I started following more gun pages on Facebook & then when I got onto Etsy it was like woah! I was actually kind of depressed at first but I guess you know you must have had a good idea when other people are doing the same/similar thing. Most people seem to be selling their various shell casing jewelry for either slightly more to in some cases A LOT more.

I have some friends who buy a lot of stuff on Etsy & I've seen some of the sales from other shops so I know there's a big market out there. Hopefully it takes off for me there too. I'm still doing vendor events & even though I really want to slow down I keep getting invited to more & more events. I had considered taking October off but then decided to do one small event that a friend is hosting. After getting invited to several more I finally decided to take on another one.

Anyway here's the link to my shop if you want to check it out. If you have an etsy account & you want to throw a little love my way I'd appreciate it if you added me to your favorites, circles or whatever. If you happen to be interested in the stuff there's more on the Facebook page, just like I said I am only listing a few things for now because of the fees.
Of course even as I write this I'm supposed to be doing something else but I remembered early today to swing by & put up a Wordless Wednesday post so figured I'd talk to everyone for a minute.

If you've been following along then you know that I've gotten into making jewelry and I've been doing vendor events. That on top of my kids & the rest of my life keeps me insanely busy. No one really ever comments on any of my posts here but I can see page views each day & it seems like quite a few people stop by & browse through my posts every day. So for now then I'm going to keep trying to stop by & put up some posts.

Another one of my exciting projects right now is that I finally gave in & decided to open an Etsy shop. I'm not sure if it's just that most of the people at the events I'm going to just aren't the right crowd, I'm not sure if the earrings aren't clear. I'm just really not sure what the deal is but since I started making the shell casing jewelry I keep finding more & more of it online. Etsy is actually full of it AND they some sell for a little more or in some cases A LOT more! I think this is insane but I actually found a shell casing charm bracelet (somewhat different style than what I've been planning to do) that sells for $135 and it actually sells. I looked at some of the vendors sells & they have sold a bunch of those bracelets.

So I thought well maybe it's just time to go online. I mean, I am living in California which is not the most gun friendly state. I did have someone walk by my table & comment on what a neat idea it was but then they "I don't want to encourage the kids" which just boggles my mind.

Who knew setting up an etsy shop was such a pain in the butt though! Ugh! I've been working on it for a few days & I haven't opened it yet because I've only gotten 3 items listed so far & they recommend you don't open until you have 8.

Which brings me back to what I'm supposed to be doing right now which is taking pictures of new stuff! Yay! I love new stuff!

I'll let everyone know once the shop is open so you all can take a look. I've had to raise my prices by a few dollars to cover the etsy fees but I'm still priced quite a bit below a lot of others who are making similar items.

Alright, back to work I go. I hope everyone has a great Wednesday & you know what? It's Talk Like a Pirate Day!
There's just always so much going on. I really need at least 3 clones. I could play with the kids, blog away & edit photos while 1 would be making earrings, 1 would be making shotgun flowers & then another could be prepping stuff. Every once in a while I'd have to switch roles with one of them because I really do love making stuff.

I think it was last night perhaps while I was working on stuff that Jon mentioned something about winning the lottery (of course like most people we often talk about "what if" we won the lotto). I told him that even if we won the lottery I want to keep doing what I'm doing. I am just really loving creating stuff.

He said that was fine & agreed if we won we'd move out of state (probably to a more gun friendly state) and open a gun store. We'd sell all my stuff in it & have a nice big room for me to create away. Ahh to dream haha. Then again isn't that what life is all about? Dreaming & finding ways to make at least part of your dreams come true?

Anyway back to the grindstone I go. Hope you all have a happy Sunday. I'll try to throw up another small post before Wordless Wednesday but we'll have to see. Big event next Saturday so I'm trying to get a lot of stuff done. Always too much to do with too little time.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10868941182011458267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690311847327868295.post-77094437785251417942012-09-05T10:18:00.003-07:002012-09-05T10:18:55.246-07:00WW: I Need A Craft Room

Daddy: Eat your food
Me: Just blow on it
Daddy: Have Mommy show you hot to blow it
Me: *blowing*
Keegan: No, this is how you do it *blows a raspberry*
Daddy: No, that's how porn stars do it
Me: Really? You had to bring that to the table & introduce it to our sons vocabulary?
Daddy: What? Porn star?
Keegan: What's a porn star?
Daddy: A fun person
Me: *busts up laughing*

And our one liner is:

Keegan: Mommy, you don't say bad words, Daddy does.

Hope you got some laughs today.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10868941182011458267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690311847327868295.post-58724816594723629392012-08-29T17:07:00.003-07:002012-08-29T17:07:58.425-07:00Busy is Never EndingI thought I was busy in the past but apparently I didn't really know what busy was. In the last few weeks I've been getting earring orders, had a vendor show & been experimenting with making new items.

I made my 1st Silicone Rubber Mold that turned out great so now I'm in the rose and skull & crossbones making business. I started making the roses with the intention to include them in my earring designs but now I've had some requests to just make them posts.

Some of my roses. I just took a dark green out this morning & poured a light blue.

One of my custom orders really required me to brainstorm on how I wanted to hang them. I had just been given some old jewelry & decided to take one of the necklaces apart to use the chain. They turned out beautifully & I immediately got a request for another pair.

One of the single earrings

The chain worked out so well that I decided that's what I had been looking for to redesign my wind chime earrings. Yet again it turned out so well that I got 2 more orders right after that.

My 1st pair of newly designed Wind Chimes

I've been planning to make posts eventually too once I figured out how to cut the head stamps off. Well my Dad volunteered to cut some for me so I made my 1st pair of posts too.

Then in the middle of all of this I decided to give another idea of mine a go. The prototype turned out great so now these are being added to my inventory.

Beautiful flower hair clip. I actually even painted this flower because it was too light to my liking.

All this is great except that now it looks like we'll be doing a pretty big event in a little over 2 weeks so I'm having to stop taking orders. I've got to finish up the orders I have & then get to work on boosting the inventory more. Since all I have are earrings I've got to get some flowers done & hopefully get a few bracelets & necklaces done as well. My Dad is supposed to get a bunch more head stamps cut for me so I can make more posts too. I just ordered a bunch of different colors last night.

So it's all busy & kind of stressful but very fun & exciting too. I did manage to do a full house cleaning on Monday before I found out we're probably doing this event in 2 weeks. It's good though cause these floors really needed it. If I can get the help I've been promised then hopefully I can still manage to get a lot done without neglecting the house too much. I did make dinner last night & I've got dinner planned for the next few nights too so that's good.

I'm just not sure how much attention the blog is going to get each week. I'll try to still keep up with posting at least once a week though.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10868941182011458267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690311847327868295.post-13534838099673957132012-08-29T10:00:00.000-07:002012-08-29T10:00:03.004-07:00WW: Evil Gnomes

Now if you're like me & went to lots of doctors throughout your life to try to figure out why you were having different problems & could never get a real answer you would probably be very surprised by this little tidbit of information.

Thankfully times have changed & more & more research regarding Celiac Disease & eating Gluten Free is constantly taking place. Many studies have shown that people with other diseases or problems with similar symptoms to Celiac Disease often show improvement on a Gluten Free diet. Last I read from the various studies they weren't exactly sure "why", just that many people do.

So what are some of the other diseases & problems that being on a Gluten Free Diet can help?

* ADHD
* Autism
* Celiac Disease
* Crohn's/Colitis/IBS
* Diabetes
* Non-Celiac Gluten Sensitivity
* Rheumatoid Arthritis

I know so many people personally that have many of these problems. So many people out there could potentially benefit from a gluten free diet. So why don't they? Even people who suspect that gluten is the cause of some of their different issues are afraid to go gluten free. Some may go so far as doing what I'll call "flirting" with it. They eat gluten free some of the time but when it's inconvenient they eat whatever they want.

The reason being is that just the idea of going gluten free is scary. It's definitely a lot of work too but every day that goes by things get easier. I don't just mean for me, since I've been gluten free a few months shy of 2yrs, but for everyone. There are so many more gluten free foods, resources & restaurants offering gluten free foods.

It's really not that bad going gluten free. I LOVED my breads etc and I am a really picky eater but if I can do this, anyone can do this. For me the choice was simple, eat gluten free or suffer in constant pain & everything else that came with it. No brainer there. I'll admit that there is a lot around here to get distracted by normally & my house is usually full of chaos. Then you add in something like this & it really seems like it takes weeks to recover & get back to normal (or as close to normal as possible) around here.

I think I've done my normal cleaning of vacuuming, sweeping, mopping once in the last 2-3wks. I honestly can't remember if it was once or twice. I did vacuum the front room on Saturday & then I had to sweep the kitchen Sunday night. Keegan has felt it necessary that I mop his bathroom both last night & the night before (he peed all over). Usually once I get started doing these things I don't stop but I've been in the middle of doing something else every time so that's all that gets done.

I mean I'm still keeping laundry & dishes done but there has been almost no real meal planning. I'm not sure when the last night was that I made dinner before last night which is sad because for the month or so leading up to getting ready for this event I was fixing dinner (often had it done or nearly done by time Jon got home) at least 3-4 nights a week. I'll admit that it often was the same meals (I'm sorry but I just LOVE tacos haha) and of course Jon complains that he's tired of tacos or Mexican food in general but then when I'm not fixing food he decides that tacos are better than him cooking.

So I'm trying to get things back on track but it's not easy. I have earring orders I need to get done & some are things I've never done before so I'm kind of brainstorming on them plus I have other ideas & things I want to do & try & as much as I'm trying not to get distracted by all that too it's still happening.

Today is my first day home all day and by time I sat down to write this a little after 9am I have dropped Keegan off, went to the store, put the groceries away & got the start of dinner going (no it's not tacos), did the dishes & little Kaden is in bed sleeping. When I finish this post I'll be getting my Wordless Wednesday going & then hopefully I'll be working on my orders.

I've been invited to some more vendor events in the next few weeks but so far something just hasn't worked out perfectly enough for us to say yes which seems like a good thing. If I can get things returned to normal & still keep working on my projects then when it's time for the next one maybe it won't be such a majorly disruptive event in our lives. It's really hard to balance things but then again this is all new territory for me so I'll get it figured out. I just need a little time (which I never have enough of!). Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10868941182011458267noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-690311847327868295.post-1075572532651280192012-08-17T10:00:00.000-07:002012-08-17T10:00:00.774-07:00Successful Busy 2 WeeksSo we just finished participating in our 2nd official vendor event. The first one was somewhat small & unfortunately didn't draw a very big crowd. We had 2 people buy from our table at that event & no one bought any of the earrings that I had stressed the whole week before to make haha.

A friend who makes & sells jewelry told me that part of it is the way you display your stuff & I hadn't really thought about it too much. It definitely makes sense though.

In a previous post I mentioned how that I had seen an earring display rack that I wanted to buy but when I went back to buy it later it was sold out so instead I found this awesome earring display on Amazon, Acrylic Plastic Foldable Earring Screens
.

I managed to get everything together the way that I wanted & I did turn all of these

into finished earrings.

Then I had to take pictures of all of them the night before. I also wanted to get an idea how I would set them up in my earring display so I hung them all up the night before & even got some pictures.

I think they look so pretty & I really wished that they were MY earring collection haha. Since so far I've only kept 3 pairs for myself so far.

Our event spanned two days. On Saturday & then on Wednesday. We had a nice spot inside & our table looked pretty well put together.

We had at least one of all our pepper sprays out on display as well as the stun guns & mini flash lights. I had borrowed my Mom's flash light so I would have one to show how bright those little things really are. We had a lot of questions about the stun guns so we opened one & put the batteries in to show people how they worked. It was actually really funny because every time we set the stun gun off everyone would stop & look & one of the girls at a table next to us would jump every single time. She even had us fire it off while she was watching to see if she could NOT jump. She still jumped.

Saturday was a very long day & ended up closing up a few hours early but a lot of people came through & we sold 5 pairs of earrings (received an order for another) and sold quite a few sprays & flash lights.

Unfortunately Wednesday was a pretty slow day. We didn't have near the amount of visitors but then again, it was in the middle of the week. We still sold a few sprays so the day wasn't a total waste.

An even more unfortunate thing is that by Monday or Tuesday poor little Kaden started getting sick. He's pretty sick now & after a horrible night with not much sleep Jon & I both woke up & started getting ready for our day Thursday when we both discovered that we had fevers of 101 & higher. The strange thing here is that Keegan is not sick! I'm sure he was the carrier though.

Still we managed to survive the chaos of these last two weeks. I have completed 3 earring orders & have at least 6 more, might end up being 8 to go. We had a ton of fun at this event but I don't think we'll be doing another one for at least a month or so though we keep getting invites to join others. Now that we're sick we especially need a little recoup time. Plus aside from these orders I have some other ideas I'd really love to try out.

Oh AND I have promised everyone funny Keegan stories.

(like this)

and Keegan says, "Higher Mommy, higher! I want to go to the moon!" I respond with "To the moon, Alice! To the moon!" Then he proceeded to tell me a story. At different parts in the story he would stop & I would ask a question & then he would continue. This is the story in full.

Alice was climbing the moon. It was really slippery so she fell down & landed in our backyard. She got hurt but she went & climbed a really high mountain. She fell again & tumbled down the rock & she was really hurt.

She went to the hospital & the doctors visited her. Then she went home & took a really bubbly bath & she was all better.

What an imagination huh? I especially like how he said she took a really bubbly bath & then she was all better. Sometimes a nice warm bubbly bath makes me feel better too lol. I think I just need to make the time to take more of them.

Then Keegan popped off & said, "Mommy's going to get me a sister, but shhh we don't tell Daddy". She said, "Well I sure hope Daddy knows".

Haha this kid cracks me up. He really wanted Kaden to be a sister, so much so that even after we told him he was getting a brother & what should we name him his answer was always "Sister".

As if that wasn't funny enough 2 days later we're watching a cheesy Netflix cartoon movie called "Kiara The Brave". He kept asking who Kiara was & where Kiara was. I told him that Kiara was the little princess. I asked him if he liked that name & he said he did. I told him that I liked it too.

A few hours later I was fixing dinner when Jon came home. He sees Jon & the first words out of his mouth are, "Daddy I want a sister named Kiara". Hahaha.

The really funny thing is that there has been character in one of the shows that I watch named "Ciara" (same pronunciation) and the name has been growing on me. I had even looked it up to see what it meant (I'm big on the meaning of names).

Fast forward to this Saturday. It's that night after our show & we've already had dinner & the boys are getting their baths over at their grandparents house. I hear Grandma Click Click tell him, "You're lucky you have a brother, he'll be your best friend some soon." Then Keegan pops off with, "Yes but this time I want a sister". She laughed & asked him, "You want a sister huh? What do you want to name her?" His immediate response? "Kiara".

Apparently he is really determined to have a sister named Kiara lol.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10868941182011458267noreply@blogger.com0
